Frequently Asked Questions

  • Being able to manage your behaviors, actions, and outcomes is essential to school, relationships and work; it allows you to meet your potential, proudly and independently. Executive Functions are the brain processes that allow for this.

  • All of our Executive Function Coaches have graduate degrees in education, either special education or a related field like counseling, and at least 5 years of experience in schools, working with Executive Function and ADHD. Some of us also have more specific training in testing, psychology, language disabilities, learning disabilities, and mindfulness. Our Writing Coaches are professional writers with at least 5 years of work experience and our Post- Secondary Sports Coaches all played sports in high school and college and successfully navigated the transition. We are highly credentialed with years of experience and thousands of clients who found success through our coaching.

  • We are not subject specific specialists. Instead, we work with the process of school and life. In other words, we won’t teach you calculus but can help you plan and time manage your school assignments or work deadlines.

  • There is no typical coaching session. Our expertise allows us to individualize our coaching for each individual whom we work with. Our sessions are 50 minutes long and we require that clients agree to weekly coaching. Those are the only absolutes. After that, we set individual goals during an intake interview and customize strategies that are practiced until they are comfortably and consistently used. Goals are evaluated and updated each month until the client reaches learned independence.

  • Because we are working with our client’s individual needs, that question is hard to answer. It is our goal to work as efficiently as possible to move clients through the process of externalizing and consistently using their needed executive function strategies. We believe that motivated individuals can manage themselves with the right tools. Once we know that our clients are successfully and independently using those tools, we end coaching.

  • We don’t work with insurance companies or offer diagnostic codes but some of our parents have been successful with using their flexible spending accounts to cover coaching costs. Your flexible spending account manager can let you know if you can use your funds for coaching.

  • We are mostly virtual via Zoom. Our middle school through college clients meet virtually as do our adult clients. Some of our youngest clients need face-to-face coaching and meet with our elementary specialist at our Bethesda, MD. satellite office.

  • Our hours for Executive Function Coaching are Monday through Thursday until 9PM, and Friday until 5PM. Essay Writing and Post-Secondary Sports Coaches find a mutually agreeable time when they can meet with their clients.

  • Becoming a client is easy! You can contact us through the website or at info@essigeducation group.com. We will match your needs to a coach, send an intake packet of information and forms to complete and once we have received your paperwork, we will set up the intake meeting and you are officially a client.

  • You can find our hiring requirements in Join Our Team. If you think you are a good fit, send us your resume and your personal statement about EF. We will contact you if we agree that you are a good fit.
